Google Sandbox is the name given to the filter placed on new websites to prevent them from rising too quickly in Google's Page Rank and search listings. The Sandbox effect began in March of 2004 theoretically as a way for Google to prevent spammers from using black hat search engine optimization techniques to profit from Google's rankings. For legitimate sites, being placed in the Sandbox is a frustrating ordeal. So how do you get out of the Sandbox? Honestly, the only sure way is to wait. Google is the only search engine that currently penalizes new sites so you will still show up in other search engine's searches. However, if you are interested in other solutions, here are a few.
"Since the sandbox is a temporary filter and it's used only to reduce search engine spam, if you continue optimizing your website as it should optimized and built, you will eventually overcome the sandbox effect and join the mainstream of established websites." Quality, useful content is the main characteristic Google expects of a good website. Participating in a community and building strong inbound links through partnerships with other sites is still the best way to organically increase your Page Ranking. Building quality links plays a vital part in the amount of time you spend in the Sandbox. The average stay is about three months, but some sites have gotten stuck for six to eight months. Manual directory submissions to valuable web directories is a great way to shorten your duration in the Sandbox.

Another tactic you can use is to change your keywords to less competitive, but still popular keywords. Highly competitive keywords attract spammers like flies to honey so even if you are a legitimate site, chances are you will get penalized for using this type of keyword. Starting your blog and using Twitter while your site is in the Sandbox is an excellent way to build a community and increase positive backlinks to your website at the same time. Regular, useful content is the key to any blog, so make sure you post on a regular schedule.
